The COVID-19 vaccination will help keep you from getting COVID-19.

All of the COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the U.S. have proven to be safe and effective at preventing COVID-19. Getting vaccinated may also help protect those around you, particularly people who are at increased risk for severe illness.

Even if you do get COVID-19, getting the vaccine also helps keep you from getting seriously ill.

You don’t have to quarantine unless you have symptoms.

If you are fully vaccinated (it’s been two or more weeks since you received your second dose of Moderna or Pfizer or your single dose of J&J) and you aren’t experiencing any symptoms, you do not have to quarantine after being exposed to someone with COVID-19.

You can hang out with people – indoors and without a mask.

The CDC recently updated its guidance to say that once you are fully vaccinated, you can resume activities you did prior the pandemic. That includes gathering indoors without wearing a mask or staying six feet apart.

It is still important to follow federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws, rules and regulations. Some businesses and workplaces also have their own regulations.

People who have a condition or take medications that weaken the immune system should talk to their healthcare provider to discuss whether they should continue taking precautions to prevent COVID-19.
